KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has declared the NAB inquiry against Additional Chief Secretary Interior Sindh, Iqbal Memon, regarding his parole release as null and void, and has issued a written judgment on the matter.
In its ruling, the court stated that NAB had sent an inquiry notice to Iqbal Memon concerning the parole release of a detainee, even though the Chief Minister has the legal authority to grant permission for parole releases exceeding 48 hours.The court remarked that all legal requirements for the accused’s parole release had been fulfilled and that it was an administrative decision, not a court order.
According to the Sindh High Court, NAB prosecutors and the government lawyer failed to prove in court that there was any irregularity in the parole release.The court further stated that until the accused’s guilt is proven, he cannot be deprived of participating in important family events.
