Lahore: Torrential rains started on Wednesday morning have wreaked havoc in Punjab as 29 people were killed in different incidents of roof collapse and other mishap while another 90 people sustained injuries.
According to rescue officials, the most deaths reported in Lahore where 12 people died in different areas.
Five people of a family lost their lives in a Muredwal village of Thokhar Niyaz Baig after roof of their house collapsed.
The deceased included 60-year-old Manga, his wife-55-year-old Ishrat, three-year-old Khadija, four-year-old Latifa and 35 year-old Rani.
In the same village two people were also sustained injuries.
Whereas 70-year-old Nasreen, 8-year-old Merub, 80-year-old Bashir died when roof of their house collapsed in Mission Colony on Raiwand road while one person also was injured.
Another house roof collapse incident, 36 year-old Saleem Masih, 34-year-old Nusrat Bibi, 14-year-old Sahil Masih lost their lives.
Heavy downpours and tempest fell like a wrath claiming eight lives in Faisalabad.
Three people were died in Sheikhupura which included Usman Nagar’s 50-year-old Ajmal, 25-year-old Naghina of Jhumkay village and 65-year-old Bashir of Feroztowan while many people are being given medical treatment in the nearby hospitals.
A 65-year-old Habib Ullah in area of Okara 25/2R and 40 year-old Allah Dita in 52/5L were died owing to collapsing of roof.
A 16-year-old Zain ALi lost his life in Pakpatan while dozens of others were wounded.
A 50-year-old Shafqat lost his life in Noor Shah area in Sahiwal.
