ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) proposal to hold a large public gathering at F-9 Park on August 5, as announced on Monday.

In addition, authorities have decided to station approximately 2,500 police personnel across key routes in the city in anticipation of PTI’s planned protests. The deputy commissioner of Islamabad issued a stern warning, emphasizing that all public, political, and social gatherings remain prohibited in the federal capital. Violators face immediate arrest.

Officials also urged residents to refrain from participating in any unlawful activities within Islamabad.

Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi, authorities have invoked Section 144 for a period of seven days in preparation for PTI’s demonstration. The deputy commissioner explained that this measure was necessary to prevent potential unrest stemming from various groups. The restrictions prohibit rallies, sit-ins, processions, and public meetings, along with the use of loudspeakers and hate speech.

Section 144 will remain in effect until August 10, and authorities have warned that the designated red zone and surrounding areas will be sealed off to prevent any protests. Due to these restrictions, all protest activities will be effectively blocked.

It is noteworthy that PTI has called for nationwide protests on August 5. Imran Khan, the party’s founder and former prime minister, has directed party members to set aside internal disputes and focus solely on mobilizing for the planned demonstrations
