LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has officially nominated senior party leader and former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan for a general seat in the Senate representing Punjab.
This development comes ahead of the upcoming by-election set for September 9, as the party gears up to secure its position in the upper house of Parliament.
The vacant Senate seat arose after the disqualification of PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has confirmed that the by-election to fill this vacancy will be held on September 9.
Rana Sanaullah, a seasoned politician and a close aide to PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, has held several significant roles in the past, including serving as Punjab’s Law Minister and as the Federal Interior Minister during the PDM coalition government.
His nomination is widely seen as a strategic move by the party to bolster its influence and representation in the Senate, strengthening its position in the legislative process.
