ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s internet connectivity has been fully restored following disruptions caused by recent heavy rains, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) announced.
A PTCL spokesperson confirmed that the nationwide internet outage, which began yesterday evening, has now been resolved. Services are back to normal across all regions, ensuring seamless online communication and digital operations.
The connectivity issues affected major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Peshawar, leading to significant disruptions in browsing, online applications, and voice calls. Many users reported slow internet speeds or complete outages, impacting both individuals and businesses relying heavily on digital platforms.
The outage also hampered remote work, online education, and communication with family members abroad, raising concerns about the resilience of Pakistan’s IT infrastructure during adverse weather conditions. In response, IT and Telecom Minister Shaza Fatima acknowledged the issue, stating that technical teams are actively investigating the root cause. “We are working diligently to identify the problem and will update the public once a solution is found,” she assured.
The recent heavy rains and storms have highlighted vulnerabilities within the country’s digital infrastructure, emphasizing the need for improved resilience to weather-related disruptions. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent future outages and ensure reliable connectivity for all users.
