ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has left for the United States to attend the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank annual meetings, the Pakistani finance ministry said on Saturday, with Islamabad seeking an early staff-level agreement with the IMF.
Additionally, he will take part in a regional roundtable focusing on the digital transformation efforts of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), organized by the World Bank. This roundtable will feature discussions from FBR officials and tax authorities from various countries, sharing insights into their respective tax reform initiatives.
As part of his bilateral engagements, Muhammad Aurangzeb will meet with finance ministers from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. His itinerary includes critical discussions with top White House officials and a meeting with the Chairman of the Financial Services Committee of Congress.
Meetings with senior representatives from the US Departments of State and Treasury, as well as the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), are also on the agenda. The Finance Minister will connect with global credit rating agencies and commercial financial institutions, including investment banks from the Middle East.
In addition to these engagements, he will visit prominent US think tanks such as the Atlantic Council and the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE).
Muhammad Aurangzeb’s schedule also includes meetings with leading members of the Pakistani community and giving interviews to selected international and US media representatives.
