Islamabad and Rawalpindi remain under lockdown.

Islamabad: The Federal capital remains on high alert as the government strongly commits to preventing a religious party’s planned march, enforcing a strict lockdown in Islamabad and Rawalpindi for the second consecutive day.

A robust security strategy has been put into action, involving over 5,500 personnel from various law enforcement agencies to maintain peace in the capital.

As outlined in the security plan released by Islamabad Police, the federal government has deployed forces from multiple entities, including Rangers, the Frontier Corps (FC), and Punjab Police, all working alongside the federal police. The deployment includes 500 Rangers, 600 personnel from Punjab Police, and 1,000 FC members, all placed under federal authority. Additionally, more than 3,500 officers from Islamabad Police have been positioned along internal and external routes of the city.

The plan also designates the oversight of 5 Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and 6 Superintendents of Police (SPs) to ensure efficient operations during the protest. Officials are determined to maintain order and have outlined measures to prevent protesters from accessing sensitive areas within the capital.
