Balochistan introduces ‘People’s Minority Card’ to promote social, economic development of minorities

QUETTA: The government of Balochistan has announced the launch of the “People’s Minority Card,” a initiative aimed at enhancing the social and economic status of minority communities throughout the province.

Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti led a consultative meeting on minority affairs, which was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Principal Secretary, and other senior officials.

During the discussion, it was decided to allocate Rs500 million from the Minority Endowment Fund for the current fiscal year to ensure smooth implementation of the program. The fund is projected to increase to Rs1 billion in the upcoming financial year.

Addressing the gathering, CM Bugti stated that the People’s Minority Card will facilitate minorities’ access to healthcare, education, employment, and business opportunities. He emphasized that safeguarding the rights and welfare of minority communities is a key priority for the Balochistan government.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that various support projects will be introduced under this initiative, complemented by a digital monitoring system to ensure transparency and proper utilization of funds. The program details are currently being finalized in consultation with minority representatives.

Bugti concluded by saying that the People’s Minority Card represents a significant step toward social equality and fostering interfaith harmony, ultimately strengthening the social cohesion of Balochistan.
