LAHORE: Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that a constitutional amendment is being considered to enhance the judicial process and resolve any ambiguities within the system.
Addressing the media in Lahore, he mentioned that discussions are underway regarding the transition from a constitutional bench to a dedicated constitutional court.
Speaking about Article 243, the minister highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing security challenges and urged against unnecessary speculation on the matter.
He also shared that he appeared in court today for a defamation case filed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in July 2017 against the PTI founder. He expressed regret over the fact that PTI’s legal team has requested 120 adjournments in the case so far.
Tarar dismissed allegations made by the PTI founder, claiming Shehbaz Sharif offered him ten billion rupees, as absurd, fabricated, and baseless. He asserted that while PTI lawyers have failed to present any credible evidence, his side has submitted substantial evidence and facts in court. He remained optimistic that justice would prevail.
The minister further reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to public service and development, adding that the accusations against him were merely an attempt to damage his reputation.
