President offers expansion of defence collaboration b/w Pakistan, Qatar

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has proposed expanding cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in defence and defence production. The proposal was made during his meeting with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha.

The Amir welcomed the offer with enthusiasm, expressing his readiness to instruct the relevant authorities to swiftly initiate discussions with Pakistan. He also shared satisfaction with the recent defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing it as a crucial and timely step forward.

During their discussions, President Zardari proposed enhancing collaboration in the areas of agriculture and food security.

Both leaders reaffirmed the deep and enduring ties between Pakistan and Qatar, rooted in shared faith, mutual trust, and a common commitment to fostering peace, prosperity, and progress for the Muslim Ummah.

President Zardari praised Qatar’s growing prominence on the global stage as a center for dialogue and humanitarian diplomacy. He also commended the Amir for his leadership in advocating for ceasefire efforts and providing humanitarian aid to Gaza. Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support, Zardari reiterated its strong stance against Israel’s aggression and underscored its continued diplomatic efforts to uphold Qatar’s sovereignty on international platforms.

Additionally, President Zardari expressed his appreciation for increasing Qatari investments in Pakistan and voiced confidence in the progressive expansion of bilateral collaboration in the years ahead.
