ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Monday that militants from the Indian-backed group Fitna al Khwarij launched an attack on Cadet College Wana located in South Waziristan District.
As per the ISPR statement, the attackers attempted to breach the college’s perimeter by ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate. The explosion caused the gate to collapse and inflicted damage on nearby infrastructure.
Their plans, however, were quickly thwarted due to the swift and resolute response by Pakistan’s armed forces. Demonstrating remarkable bravery and professional precision, Pakistani troops neutralized two militants linked to Fitna al Khwarij.
Attempt to repeat 2014 APS-style attack
Despite this, three militants managed to infiltrate the college grounds and took position within the administrative block, where they were subsequently surrounded. The attackers attempted to replicate the horrific act of terrorism carried out against Army Public School Peshawar in 2014, aiming to instill fear among the youth pursuing quality education in the tribal regions.
Attackers linked to handlers in Afghanistan
These militants, linked to Indian proxies, were reportedly taking instructions from handlers based in Afghanistan. This attack contradicts claims made by the Afghan Taliban regime regarding the absence of such terrorist groups on their soil. Pakistan retains the right to take appropriate measures against these terrorists and their leaders operating from Afghan territory.
Ongoing clearance operations are underway to eliminate remaining militants sponsored by external forces.
Pakistan remains committed to its Counter Terrorism campaign under the framework of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as endorsed by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Security forces and law enforcement agencies are determined to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism and ensure peace within the country.
