RAWALPINDI: Following assurances from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Sri Lankan cricket team has decided to proceed with their tour of Pakistan.
A statement from the Sri Lankan team manager had previously indicated that players were considering leaving Pakistan mid-tour. However, sources within the PCB confirmed that extensive efforts were made to reassure the team and to secure the continuation of the series, including the One Day International (ODI) series and the tri-series.
The PCB assured the Sri Lankan team of increased security measures, which prompted the team to finalize their decision to stay. The Sri Lankan Cricket Board stated that if any players choose not to continue with the tour, arrangements for substitutes will be made. According to officials, Sri Lankan players were reassured about their safety by PCB Chairman Mohsin Nawaz, emphasizing that the protection of the team and staff remains the top priority.
Sources within the PCB mentioned that the second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be held as per the schedule in Rawalpindi.It is important to note that Sri Lanka is set to play the remaining two ODIs of the series against Pakistan, followed by a tri-nation series hosted in Pakistan.The second ODI match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled for tomorrow in Rawalpindi.
