ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, has approved the resignations of Supreme Court Justices Mansoor Ali Shah and Athar Minallah.
According to an official statement from the Presidency, President Asif Ali Zardari has accepted their resignations.
Yesterday, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah resigned from their positions as judges of the Supreme Court over the 27th Amendment issue. They had sent their resignations to the President’s Office.
It is worth noting that last night, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah paid farewell visits to their fellow judges in their chambers. The other judges advised them not to resign, and efforts were made to persuade them to withdraw their decisions until the last moment.
Despite the insistence of their colleagues, both justices remained firm on their decision and, after meeting with other judges, they submitted their resignations and left the Supreme Court.
