ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has cautioned that Pakistan will deliver the same resolute response to any future aggression as it did during the confrontation in May.
Speaking informally to journalists during a luncheon hosted by Jordan’s King Abdullah II at the President’s House, the Field Marshal remarked that Pakistan’s success in the recent conflict with India was a blessing granted by Allah.
He reiterated that Pakistan seeks peace, yet will firmly counter any attempt to force war upon it. “Our actions will be guided by Allah’s commands, and we will fulfill our responsibilities without hesitation,” he said. Drawing parallels with the Battle of Uhud, he noted that faith in Allah can transform even the smallest effort into a decisive advantage.
A separate, detailed discussion also took place between President Asif Ali Zardari and the Field Marshal. The gathering was attended by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto, as well as the British High Commissioner and the US Ambassador.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan and Jordan reaffirmed their commitment to boosting strategic and economic cooperation. During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and King Abdullah II reviewed bilateral ties and identified new opportunities in trade, investment, health, education, science and technology, and defence collaboration.
Both leaders also exchanged views on regional security and ongoing peace efforts. They agreed to strengthen coordination among the eight Arab Islamic countries working with the United States on the Gaza ceasefire and the Gaza Peace Plan signed in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
