Russian drones strike Ukrainian public broadcaster newsroom in Dnipro, injuring two

WEB DESK: Russian drones inflicted significant damage on a building housing the Dnipro newsroom of Ukraine’s public broadcaster Suspilne and Ukrainian Radio Dnipro during a major overnight assault on the city, Suspilne reported early Tuesday.

Vladyslav Haivanenko, governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, where Dnipro serves as the administrative center, stated via the Telegram messaging platform that the region endured a heavy drone attack late Monday. The strikes injured two people, ignited multiple fires, and caused destruction to apartment buildings and city infrastructure.

Suspilne reported on Telegram that the attack resulted in a fire, shattered windows and doors, and damage to floors and the roof of the building. Fortunately, no staff members were present at the time.

The broadcaster also shared a striking image of the destruction, depicting a large hole torn through the building’s concrete structure. The photo revealed exposed metal reinforcements, loose wires, and collapsed ceiling panels among the rubble.

Suspilne serves as Ukraine’s comprehensive public broadcaster, delivering television, radio, and online news services through an extensive network of regional offices. Dnipro, an industrial hub in east-central Ukraine, alongside the broader Dnipropetrovsk region, has repeatedly been targeted by Russian missile and drone strikes throughout the nearly four-year conflict. These attacks have claimed civilian lives and caused widespread damage to homes, industries, and essential infrastructure.

As of now, there has been no comment from Russia regarding this latest assault.
