ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s inaugural International Qirat Competition is set to commence in Islamabad from tomorrow (Monday), marking a significant milestone for the country.
The five-day event, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, will feature Quran reciters from over 40 OIC member states. A representative from Pakistan will also take part in the contest.
The jury for the competition will include three esteemed international experts along with five renowned Pakistani judges.
Speaking at a press briefing, senior Qari and coordinator for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Syed Sadaqat Ali, described the event as a landmark achievement for Pakistan. He noted that hosting such a prestigious gathering places the country prominently on the global stage of Quranic recitation. He added that the competition is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s rich legacy of Qirat and inspire young talent across the nation.
Participants from several countries have begun arriving in Islamabad. According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Qaris from Chad, Somalia, and Ghana are among the first to reach Pakistan for the competition.
