PMD predicts Karachi may experience cold winds originating from Quetta

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted an increase in cold weather across Karachi starting tomorrow, with chilly winds anticipated to blow in from Quetta.

As stated by the Met Office, nighttime temperatures in the city are expected to drop noticeably, ranging between 13°C and 15°C over the next 24 hours.

The PMD highlighted that continental air is dominating most parts of the country, intensifying the winter chill.

In a broader outlook, the Met Office forecasts cold and dry conditions nationwide, with severe cold expected in high-altitude areas tomorrow.

Foggy weather is likely to worsen in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), leading to reduced visibility during early morning and late-night travel hours.

The Met Office further mentioned that both daytime and nighttime temperatures could continue to fall across northern regions in the coming days.

A review of the previous 24 hours indicates cold and dry conditions across much of the country, while hilly areas have experienced extremely cold weather. Smog combined with patches of fog was also reported in several low-lying areas of Punjab and KP.
