MANAMA: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism about significantly boosting Pakistan-Bahrain bilateral trade, aiming to reach $1 billion within the next three years.
During his meeting with Bahrain Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in Manama, the Prime Minister emphasized the substantial growth potential, citing current trade volume at approximately $550 million.
He highlighted that the Pakistan–GCC Free Trade Agreement, which is nearing completion, along with recently simplified visa policies, will serve as key drivers in this expansion. PM Shehbaz also extended an open invitation to Bahraini investors, encouraging them to explore opportunities across sectors such as food security, information technology, construction, mining and minerals, healthcare, renewable energy, and tourism.
Additionally, he proposed strengthening maritime links by improving port-to-port connectivity between Karachi and Gwadar in Pakistan and Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Bahrain, to facilitate smoother trade flows and economic cooperation.
