ISLAMABAD: In a significant session on Monday, the Senate passed three key bills, including the “Rights of Persons Arrested, Detained or under Custodial Investigation Bill, 2020,” the “Limited Liability Partnership (Amendment) Bill, 2023,” and the “Fatal Accidents (Amendment) Bill, 2024.”
Additionally, eight new bills were introduced in the House for consideration. These include:
- Pakistan Psychological Council Bill, 2025
- Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (Regulation) Bill, 2025
- Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers) Bill, 2025
- Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Bill, 2025
- Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025
The Chair referred all newly introduced bills to their respective Standing Committees for further review.
In a separate development, the House passed a resolution urging the government to provide adequate relief packages and compensation to families affected by recent floods across the country. The resolution was moved by Muhammad Talha Mahmood. The Senate will reconvene on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. for further proceedings.
