JUI Chief announces political rally in Karachi on Dec 22

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday announced that an important gathering of representatives from different schools of thought, along with leaders of religious and political parties, will be held in Karachi on December 22 under the auspices of Majlis-e-Ittehad-e-Ummah.

As  per detail, addressing the annual function of Jamia Miftah-ul-Uloom Mastung, Balochistan, through an online link, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the gathering would deliberate on the direction in which the country is heading and review matters in the light of Pakistan’s Constitution and law.

He said discussions would also focus on national development, the rights of the people in the provinces particularly smaller provinces and key issues facing them.

According to him, constructive steps would be considered to improve relations with neighbouring countries, including Afghanistan and Iran, address prevailing challenges, strengthen ties with friendly states, and redress public grievances.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed confidence that a collective action plan would be formulated to improve the country’s situation and project a positive image of Pakistan internationally. He said the decisions taken at the gathering would have long-term implications for the country’s future.

Highlighting the role of religious education, the JUI-F chief said that the subcontinent, especially Pakistan, holds a prominent position globally in the field of religious sciences. He said that due to the efforts of past scholars, the sciences of the Quran, Sunnah, Hadith and Fiqh continue to be preserved and promoted.

He added that graduates of religious seminaries are recognised internationally as experts in Quran and Hadith, and that madrasa students are excelling not only in religious studies but also in contemporary sciences, often securing top positions in examinations.

He described such talent as rare but regretted that it was not given due value within the country’s system.Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticised the rulers, saying they lacked understanding of the Quran and Sunnah and were also failing to fulfil the requirements of Pakistan’s Constitution and law.

He alleged that recent constitutional amendments and legislation were in clear contradiction to the Quran, Sunnah and Hadith, and said such mistakes would not have been made had there been proper understanding of religious teachings.
