ISLAMABAD: Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent proposal for negotiations with PTI leadership, key opposition figures ,Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Ain Mahmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas are anticipated to issue their responses today.
The opposition, led by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, conducted an extensive consultation session that lasted over five hours, discussing the government’s overture. Sources indicate that PTI’s central leadership has conveyed their views to Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas regarding the dialogue proposal.
Earlier, during a federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his willingness to engage in talks with opposition parties, emphasizing that such negotiations would only proceed on matters of national importance. He referenced reports suggesting that PTI and its allies had been considering dialogue and reaffirmed his previous invitations for discussions, including those extended in parliamentary sessions.
The Prime Minister stressed that national unity and harmony among political parties are vital for Pakistan’s progress and development. He cautioned against any form of coercion or blackmail masquerading as negotiations, asserting that dialogue must be based solely on legitimate issues.
Shehbaz also highlighted the urgency of dialogue amid ongoing political and economic challenges facing the country, reaffirming his government’s commitment to open communication with opposition leaders in the pursuit of stability and prosperity.
