ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the UK’s Acting High Commissioner to formally protest a violent demonstration outside the Pakistani Consulate in Bradford.
The protest, reportedly organized via an official social media account of a Pakistani political party in Britain, included participants issuing extreme threats against Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership.
The situation escalated as protesters allegedly directed death threats at Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, with footage shared by PTI UK appearing to show threats of a car bomb attack. This raised alarms in Islamabad, prompting immediate diplomatic action.
Pakistan urged British authorities to prevent their land from being used to destabilize the country and demanded accountability for those involved in the threats. The demarche was delivered to the Acting High Commissioner as British High Commissioner Jane Marriott was unavailable.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, questioning how such violence was allowed on British soil.
Pakistan’s firm response reflects the gravity of the threats to its military leadership, signaling that efforts to incite violence from abroad will face serious consequences.
