President Zardari praises Field Marshal Munir’s leadership in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari commended Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for firmly countering Indian aggression, emphasizing Pakistan’s decisive stance that made New Delhi understand war is no trivial matter.

Speaking at a gathering marking the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, Zardari said Pakistan’s military leader confronted India directly. He asserted that India couldn’t sustain conflict for four days and urged Prime Minister Modi to recognize the courage and sacrifice required for war.

Zardari praised Munir’s leadership in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty. He noted global acknowledgment of Pakistan’s position, including recognition from former US President Donald Trump.

Reflecting on Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Zardari said “Pakistan Khappay” was pivotal in preserving unity and stability during that turmoil, strengthening democracy.

He dismissed India’s claims of military superiority, pointing out that wars demand resilience, not just numbers. He warned of a strong response to threats against Pakistan, reaffirming the nation’s desire for peace but readiness to defend itself.

On economic matters, Zardari criticized past government mismanagement but highlighted improving international relations and recovery efforts. He rejected calls to retreat to a bunker during conflict, reinforcing that leaders face challenges head-on.

He concluded by underlining Pakistanis’ unwavering dedication to protect their country, pledging sacrifices whenever needed.
