WEB DESK: Singer and actor Prashant Tamang, winner of Indian Idol Season 3, passed away on Sunday at 43 in New Delhi. Reports indicate he was found unresponsive at home, with a suspected cardiac arrest cited as the cause, though official confirmation is pending.
Tamang recently returned to New Delhi after a performance in Arunachal Pradesh. His sudden death stunned fans and colleagues, as he had no known health issues.
Born on January 4, 1983, in Darjeeling, Tamang joined the Kolkata Police as a constable and honed his musical skills with their orchestra. His life transformed in 2007 when he gained widespread fame by winning Indian Idol.
He released his debut album Dhanyavad featuring Hindi and Nepali tracks and performed globally, including in the U.S.
Tamang also contributed to Nepali cinema as a playback singer for films like Himmat 2 and starred in movies such as Gorkha Paltan and Nishani. Additionally, he appeared on TV, including roles in Amber Dhara and Paatal Lok 2.
