ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Pakistan has the potential to transform its agri-economy in months.
He was addressing the Pak-China Agri-Investment Conference in Islamabad on Monday.
The Prime Minister said sixty-five percent of Pakistan’s population lives and works in rural areas. He said agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, with unlimited potential.
Acknowledging China’s advancement in diverse sectors including agriculture, Shehbaz Sharif said his government sent 1,000 Pakistani agri-graduates from across the country to best agricultural universities and research centers in China. He said these graduates are now well prepared to help farmers produce high quality crops.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that trade surplus can be achieved through competitive cost and maintaining high quality. He said Chinese experts are there to assist Pakistanis to achieve this target.
