Gohar appeals to judiciary to prioritize PTI cases

ISLAMABAD: Barrister Gohar, a senior PTI leader, has called on the judiciary to expedite hearing of PTI-related cases, emphasizing the importance of justice. He expressed disappointment that the PTI delegation was unable to meet the Chief Justice of Pakistan today despite waiting for three hours, as the CJP Justice Yahya Afridi was reportedly occupied.

Speaking to reporters near Adiala Jail at the DHA checkpoint on Tuesday, Barrister Gohar highlighted that meetings with PTI leaders are a constitutional and legal right. He mentioned that Imran Khan’s three sisters are expected to meet with the PTI chairman, and others have come to show solidarity.

Gohar urged the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to avoid actions that could lead to unfounded accusations. He called for evidence to support any allegations made against the KP government, warning against baseless charges. Gohar also pointed out that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced in the Al-Qadir case on January 17, 2025, but their appeals have yet to be heard, and they have not been granted bail for over a year.

He appealed to the judiciary to deliver justice fairly and promptly, warning that when justice is delayed or denied, citizens may resort to lawlessness and violence. “When the doors of justice are shut, people take the law into their own hands. Without justice, society risks chaos,” he stated.

Gohar questioned why Bushra Bibi, who has no corruption charges against her, was punished, and why she remains detained. He also clarified that PTI has no hidden contacts or backdoor dealings, reaffirming their transparency.

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja condemned the denial of meeting rights to Imran Khan’s family and Bushra Bibi, calling it a serious violation of legal rights. He stressed that the public has a right to be informed about Imran Khan’s legal situation and that oppression and injustice will not persist indefinitely.

Sheharyar Afridi, another PTI leader, reiterated that the party has always fought for justice and the rule of law. He highlighted PTI’s significant electoral victory in February 2024, where the party secured a two-thirds majority nationwide, emphasizing their commitment to fighting against injustice and advocating for lawful governance.
