ECO ministerial meeting ended in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The two-day Ministerial Conference of the Economic Cooperation Organization on Disaster Risk Reduction has successfully concluded in Islamabad.

During the meeting, member states reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing regional collaboration, improving disaster resilience, and taking unified actions to address emergencies. These commitments, which align with the Izmir Treaty, ECO Vision 2025, and the Sendai Framework, have been formalized in the Islamabad Declaration 2025.

NDMA Chairman Lt General Inam Haider Malik emphasized that the Islamabad Declaration reflects a shared determination among ECO nations to protect communities from increasing disaster-related threats. He also highlighted Pakistan’s willingness to contribute its expertise and advanced capabilities through the National Emergencies Operation Center to bolster regional preparedness and resilience efforts.
