PM Shehbaz embarks on Two-Day official visit to Austria to boost bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif departed Islamabad on Sunday for a two-day official trip to Vienna at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker.

The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi.

During his stay, Sharif will engage in one-on-one and expanded delegation talks with Chancellor Stocker at the Austrian Federal Chancellery. The two leaders are also expected to jointly interact with leading business representatives from both countries in a bid to enhance trade and investment cooperation.

The premier will address the Pakistan–Austria Business Forum and participate in a United Nations-related event focused on “Sustainable Development, Global Peace, and Prosperity.” He is also scheduled to meet the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Officials believe the visit will provide fresh momentum to Pakistan-Austria relations, particularly in the areas of economic collaboration and commercial partnerships.

After concluding his engagements in Vienna, the prime minister will travel to London for a brief private stay before heading to Washington on February 18. In the US capital, he is set to attend a Board of Peace meeting on February 19 and is expected to hold talks with the US president the following day as part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach.
