LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari visited the residence of the late Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, a former Punjab Chief Minister, to extend his sympathies and offer condolences on his recent death.
During the visit, the President met with Begum Perveen Wattoo, along with the children of the late politician and other family members, expressing his heartfelt condolences for their loss.
In his remarks, President Zardari paid homage to Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo’s contributions to Pakistan’s political landscape, highlighting his tenure as Punjab’s Chief Minister, Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, and Federal Minister. He acknowledged the late leader’s efforts in promoting democracy and fostering national unity.
Reflecting on his long-standing association with Wattoo, the President conveyed his personal grief and assured the family of his support during this challenging period. He encouraged Wattoo’s children to uphold their father’s legacy by actively participating in Punjab’s politics and strengthening the Pakistan Peoples Party in the region.
He also offered a prayer (Fatiha) for the departed soul, praying for his elevation to Jannah.
Following the condolence visit, President Zardari held a meeting with party leaders at Wattoo House, where he discussed organizational issues related to the party and reviewed the current political climate, with particular attention to developments in Punjab.
