Trump steps up pressure on media over Insufficient support for Iran conflict

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has allegedly escalated efforts to influence the media after public backing for a potential war with Iran remained tepid.

Reports from CNN indicate that the Trump administration has been lodging daily complaints against broadcasters and news outlets, criticizing their coverage of Iran. The outlets say that officials have been filing multiple grievances every day, seeking to sway public perception.

CNN also highlights that President Trump has openly accused the media of being “criminal” and “unpatriotic” in their reporting. Meanwhile, Brendan Carr, the FCC

Chairman appointed by Trump, is said to have issued repeated threats to broadcasters, warning of possible license revocations if coverage does not align with the administration’s narrative.

Analyst David Axelrod, writing for CNN, suggests that the Trump team has seemingly made a strategic decision: if the media isn’t portraying the war in a favorable light, then attacking the credibility of the reporters may be the next best step.

The report further notes that Trump frequently dismisses challenging questions about the conflict by labeling them as “fake news,” effectively sidestepping detailed discussions on the topic.
