Iran allows 20 More Pakistani Ships Through Hormuz Strait

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has announced that Iran will allow 20 additional Pakistan-flagged vessels to pass through the vital Strait of Hormuz, in what is being seen as a positive diplomatic development.

According to Dar, the arrangement will enable two Pakistani ships to transit the strait each day. He shared the update on X, describing the decision as a constructive step that signals cooperation and a commitment to regional stability.

He welcomed the move, noting that such initiatives can help lower tensions and pave the way for peace. Stressing the importance of engagement, he said dialogue, diplomacy, and trust-building measures remain key to resolving regional challenges.

The development comes as Islamabad hosts a series of high-level diplomatic meetings, with foreign ministers from Türkiye and Egypt in the capital for discussions aimed at defusing tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Officials say the decision will also help ensure smoother maritime movement through one of the world’s busiest and most strategically significant shipping lanes, while supporting broader efforts to maintain regional stability.
