BANNU: At least five civilians, including three women and a child, were martyred and four others critically injured in a suicide attack near a police station in Bannu on Friday, according to security sources.
Officials said the attacker attempted to target people gathered outside the Domail police station, but the assault was foiled before it could cause even greater destruction. The blast, however, resulted in casualties among nearby civilians.
Security sources attributed the attack to militants linked to “Fitna al-Khawarij.” The injured were immediately shifted to nearby medical facilities, where they are receiving treatment.
Rescue and security teams rushed to the scene, launching relief operations, clearing debris, and conducting a search of the surrounding area.
The incident comes amid intensified counterterrorism operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Inter-Services Public Relations said that 22 militants have been killed in the province over the past two days.
