WEB DESK: Authorities have uncovered that over 600 spouses of government employees were receiving payments under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
The beneficiaries reportedly include families of workers from various departments such as police, health, education, SCARP, HESCO, and irrigation. After these findings, officials began recovering the by deducting amounts directly from the salaries of the employees involved.
Initial recoveries include more than Rs631,000 from 38 police officers and over Rs729,000 from 45 SCARP staff members. Additionally, Rs252,000 has been reclaimed from 15 employees in the Deputy Commissioner’s office, while over Rs685,000 has been deducted from 42 irrigation department workers.
Salary cuts have also affected 14 executive engineers and 17 teachers, with recovery efforts ongoing across several departments. The widening scope of the investigation has sparked unease among government employees as authorities continue to pursue further cases.
