RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security agencies successfully thwarted two infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, resulting in the death of 13 militants, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
In a statement, the military’s media wing reported that on April 28 and 29, 2026, thirteen militants associated with the Indian-backed extremist group, Fitna-al-Khwarij, were killed during operations conducted in border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Mohmand District, security personnel detected movement from a group attempting to infiltrate through the border. Swift and precise engagement led to the elimination of eight militants, identified as part of the Indian-supported Khwarij faction.
Similarly, in North Waziristan District, security forces intercepted and engaged another group of militants attempting to cross the border. After an intense exchange of fire, five militants were neutralized.
These actions reinforce Pakistan’s repeated concerns over the Afghan Taliban’s failure to manage their border effectively. Islamabad urges the Afghan authorities to fulfill their responsibilities by preventing the use of Afghan soil by militants and curbing the involvement of Afghan citizens in terrorist activities inside Pakistan.
Pakistan’s security forces remain steadfast and committed to safeguarding national borders. Ongoing sanitization operations are targeting any remaining Indian-
supported Khwarij elements in the region. Under the national counter-terrorism initiative “Azm-e-Istiklam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan, security and law enforcement agencies continue their relentless campaign to eradicate foreign-backed terrorism and ensure peace and stability across the country.
