KARACHI: Karachi has seen at least eight deaths linked to suspected drug overdoses and extreme temperatures, rescue officials reported on Monday.
Sources said three deaths resulted from drug abuse, while four others occurred during hospital treatment across various parts of the city. Additionally, one person succumbed to the scorching heat as temperatures remain high.
The bodies were recovered from locations including Manghopir, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and Defence Phase 8. Meanwhile, three more individuals died in hospitals in Clifton, Liaquatabad, and along the Super Highway.
Another body was found near Tayyaba Mosque on SPARCO Road in Baldia Town, with witnesses suggesting heatstroke was the cause.
Authorities have advised residents to stay cautious, avoid substance misuse, and take precautions like staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity during the ongoing heatwave.
