During April 2026, imports of refined petroleum products amounted to $977 million, while crude oil imports nearly doubled compared to historical averages. This sharp rise led to the breaking of previous import records set in 2008, 2013, and 2022.
Crude oil imports alone reached $1.187 billion in April 2026, up from $533.9 million in the same month of 2025.
The report also noted that no liquefied natural gas (LNG) was imported during April 2026, while LPG imports in April 2025 were valued at $83.7 million. Overall, the data highlights unusually high monthly oil import levels.
