ISLAMABAD: According to sources, the government has decided to delay the presentation of the FY2026-27 federal budget, which was initially scheduled for June 5. The new date for unveiling the budget is now tentatively set for either June 10 or June 12.
The final decision regarding the rescheduled date has not yet been confirmed by the authorities. Additionally, the planned session of the National Economic Council (NEC), originally scheduled for June 3, has also been postponed.
The delay is attributed to the upcoming regional elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, which has prompted the government to adjust its schedule accordingly. Sources further indicated that discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are expected to continue, focusing on development allocations and other budgetary concerns.
Previously, the federal budget for 2026-27 was slated for presentation in the National Assembly on June 5, with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb set to deliver the budget speech.
