ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has dismissed the review petition filed by Zahir Jaffer in the Noor Mukadam murder case, maintaining his death sentence.
A bench comprising Justice Hashim Kakar (head), Justice Salahuddin Panahor, and Justice Iftikhar Ibrahim concluded the hearing and announced its verdict.
During the proceedings, the defendant’s lawyer stated that he admits that Noor Mukadam was subjected to injustice and apologized to her family. He argued that the focus of his arguments was on the mental state of the accused at the time of the incident. The lawyer mentioned that at the time of the incident and during the trial, his client was not in a sound mental state. However, he did not claim that his client did not commit the murder.
After deliberation, the court dismissed the review petition and upheld the death sentence of Zahir Jaffer.
