WEB DESK: WhatsApp is unveiling a redesigned message actions menu for Android users, aiming to enhance the chat experience with a sleeker and more user-friendly interface that mirrors the iPhone version.
The new design introduces a contextual menu that appears directly next to a message when long-pressed, replacing the older, more cumbersome workflow. This allows users to quickly access key options such as Reply, Forward, Copy, and Delete from a compact panel, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple menus.
To keep the interface clean, less commonly used functions have been relocated to a separate ‘More’ section, reducing visual clutter while still providing access to additional features when needed.
Previously, Android users had to switch between different parts of the app—buttons on the top bar or secondary menus—to perform message actions. The updated layout consolidates all these options into a single, easily accessible menu, creating a smoother interaction.
Users can activate the new menu simply by tapping and holding a message, which instantly displays the options beside it—no extra gestures or new procedures required.
This change also aligns the Android experience more closely with WhatsApp’s iOS platform, ensuring consistency across devices.
The new message menu is currently available in WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.26.23.8), with a broader rollout expected in the upcoming months.
