ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to cancel his upcoming visit to Switzerland.
Sources close to the government confirmed that the Prime Minister was expected to leave for Switzerland today, where preliminary talks concerning the Iran-U.S. agreement were scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Bergen Stock Resort.
Diplomatic insiders explained that the trip was canceled because the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been finalized and signed. Consequently, the focus will now shift to separate technical discussions, which will address various issues included in the broader agreement.
It is also important to note that today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Islamabad Peace Memorandum in his role as a mediator. The agreement was also endorsed by U.S. President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pishkenian.
While the Prime Minister was set to depart for Switzerland today along with a delegation, the journey has now been officially called off.
