PESHAWAR: JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced on Tuesday that he has agreed to serve as a mediator between the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and the government, following a letter from the committee requesting his assistance. He emphasized that his decision was motivated by the best interests of Pakistan and Kashmir.
In a statement, Fazlur Rehman highlighted that the current focus of the Pakistani people remains on the welfare of their Kashmiri brethren. He noted that JAAC leaders and supporters are currently holding a sit-in and are contemplating their next steps.
Fazlur Rehman explained that he needs some time to facilitate dialogue, stating, “I will approach the government and work to initiate negotiations.” He urged the committee to consider calling off their sit-in and to hold off on announcing any future strategies, which would help create a more favorable environment for talks.
The JUI-F chief appealed to both sides to demonstrate flexibility and foster a conducive atmosphere for meaningful negotiations, emphasizing the importance of dialogue for resolving the ongoing issues.
