KASHMORE: Police in Kashmore successfully rescued a seven-year-old girl who had been abducted 27 days earlier during an operation that left one suspected kidnapper dead, officials confirmed on Monday.
The child, identified as Zeenat Solangi, was kidnapped from her residence on June 16, 2026, in the jurisdiction of Karampur Police Station near the Shabbirabad police post.
After the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muhammad Murad Ghanghro formed a special task force comprising personnel from Kashmore and Kandhkot Madadgar police, supported by an IT team, to locate the abducted girl.
According to police, investigators relied on intelligence-based operations, digital tracking, and extensive searches across multiple locations. The suspects allegedly kept moving the child from one hideout to another in an attempt to avoid detection.
Based on credible intelligence, law enforcement officers launched a targeted raid in the Shalo Mor area, which falls under the A-Section Kandhkot Police Station.
Police said the suspects opened fire when officers reached the location, prompting a retaliatory response. Officers conducted the operation carefully to protect the child from harm during the exchange of gunfire.
During the encounter, one alleged kidnapper was killed. Police believe he was struck by bullets fired by his own accomplices amid the crossfire, while the remaining suspects escaped by taking advantage of the darkness.
The abducted girl was recovered unharmed and is expected to be reunited with her family after the completion of the required legal procedures.
Police officials added that search and combing operations are still underway in the area to apprehend the remaining suspects believed to be involved in the kidnapping.
