US closes Peshawar Consulate, KP diplomatic affairs shift to Islamabad

PESHAWAR: The U.S. Consulate General in Peshawar has officially ceased operations, with responsibility for diplomatic engagement in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) now transferred to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit (KPU) at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.

In a statement shared on its official X account, the consulate announced that its Peshawar social media page is no longer active.

The statement encouraged the public to stay connected through the U.S. Embassy’s official Facebook, Instagram, and X platforms for future updates. It also directed users to the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan’s official website for information on ongoing initiatives aimed at expanding trade and investment, enhancing security cooperation, and strengthening partnerships with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the rest of Pakistan.

The transition marks the consolidation of U.S. diplomatic engagement in the province under the embassy’s Islamabad-based Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Unit.
