MIRPUR: Commissioner of Mirpur Division, Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan, conducted inspections at multiple polling locations throughout Mirpur. During his visits, he assessed the voting procedures and overall arrangements at each station.
Addressing the media afterward, he stated that voting is proceeding smoothly and in a peaceful atmosphere across the entire Mirpur Division. He further noted that security measures in Mirpur, Bhimber, and Kotli are up to standard, and no incidents of concern have been reported so far.
The commissioner expressed optimism about a high voter turnout and emphasized that ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections remains their primary goal.
In a related statement, a spokesperson representing the Inspector General of Police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir praised the electorate of Mirpur Division for demonstrating their faith in democratic processes by actively participating in the elections, rather than resorting to protests.
The spokesperson added that the rejection of the Action Committee’s call for a prolonged march by the people reflects their desire to resolve issues through democratic and constitutional means, showcasing confidence in the electoral process.
