MUSCAT: Oman has introduced a complimentary 14-day tourist visa for eligible foreign visitors in a move aimed at promoting tourism and making short-term travel to the Sultanate easier.
The new measure comes under amendments to the executive regulations of Oman’s Foreigners’ Residence Law and was officially published in the government gazette on August 2, 2026.
Under the revised rules, citizens of approved countries can obtain the free visa by submitting an application to the relevant authorities. Visitors wishing to stay longer may apply for another eligible tourist visa before the 14-day permit expires, subject to standard eligibility criteria and applicable fees.
Known for its dramatic mountains, pristine coastline, historic forts and traditional Arabian culture, Oman remains a popular destination for travellers seeking both adventure and cultural experiences.
Among the country’s top attractions is the annual Khareef season in Dhofar Governorate, when monsoon rains transform Salalah into a lush green retreat with cooler weather, drawing thousands of regional and international tourists.
The 2026 Khareef season, which runs from June 21 to September 21, offers visitors waterfalls, scenic beaches, natural springs and sinkholes, alongside a packed calendar of cultural, artistic, sporting and entertainment activities.
This year’s festival features 125 events, showcasing Oman’s heritage while encouraging tourism through a diverse range of experiences across the Dhofar region.
