ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis joined Muslims around the world on Wednesday in observing Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH), the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, with deep religious devotion, enthusiasm and reverence.
The day began with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals, as well as in Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. Quran Khawani was held at mosques, while special prayers after Fajr were offered for the country’s peace, prosperity and progress.
Milad processions and religious gatherings are being held in cities and towns across the country, drawing large numbers of devotees. Streets, markets and neighbourhoods have been illuminated, while buildings and roads are decorated with green flags and buntings. Worshippers are also reciting Durood Sharif to express their love and devotion to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
President, PM Stress Following Prophet’s Teachings
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, extended greetings to Muslims across Pakistan and the Islamic world, describing the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a source of guidance for humanity.
He said Muslims could achieve success individually and collectively by following the Prophet’s teachings and emphasised the importance of strengthening inter-sectarian harmony. The president also urged young people to shape their lives in accordance with the Seerat of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also felicitated the Muslim Ummah, saying the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) provide guidance for all Muslims.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) conveyed a universal message of love, brotherhood, tolerance and humanity. He urged Muslims to follow the Prophet’s life and teachings to overcome disorder and challenges facing society.
Tight Security for Processions and Gatherings
Extensive security arrangements have been put in place for Eid Miladun Nabi events, particularly in Lahore, where more than 7,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed to protect 128 religious gatherings and 173 rallies and congregations.
The main Milad procession in Lahore is scheduled to begin at Delhi Gate and pass through designated routes before concluding at Data Darbar.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana said comprehensive security arrangements were in place to ensure peaceful celebrations. He directed police officials to coordinate closely with religious scholars and peace committees, monitor potential troublemakers and strengthen security at entry and exit points across the city.
Sikh Community Joins Celebrations
In a gesture of interfaith harmony, members of the Sikh community in Narowal also joined the celebrations with enthusiasm. Sikh residents showered rose petals on participants in Milad processions and distributed sweets to mark the auspicious occasion.
