ISLAMABAD: In response to the tragic fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) that resulted in the loss of 15 young lives, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has dismissed Federal Secretary for Health, Aslam Ghori.
The Prime Minister also announced the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
These decisions were made during an emergency meeting convened by the Prime Minister following the devastating blaze at the capital’s leading public hospital.
During the session, Shehbaz Sharif voiced strong criticism of officials from PIMS and the Health Ministry for their handling of the situation and the apparent lapses that led to such a tragedy.
The inquiry committee will be headed by former Secretary of Interior, Shahid Khan, with notable members including Dr. Nabeel Awan, Secretary Establishment.
The government has emphasized its commitment to accountability and ensuring such incidents are thoroughly examined to prevent future tragedies.
