LONDON: King Charles is set to meet Pakistan’s men’s Test cricket team at Clarence House, nearly two decades after his previous encounter with the national squad.
The King, who is Head of the Commonwealth, will host the Pakistani players in the gardens of Clarence House during a break between the second and third Test matches of Pakistan’s summer tour of England.
The meeting will mark a reunion for Charles, who previously met Pakistan’s cricket team in 2007 while serving as the Prince of Wales. At the time, he met the players in Glasgow ahead of the Pakistan-India Future Friendship Cup at the Citylets Titwood cricket ground.
The upcoming royal engagement comes as Pakistan prepares for a busy international schedule later in the year.
The royal couple are scheduled to begin their autumn tour from October 27 to November 4, starting with a visit to Antigua and Barbuda before attending the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will subsequently travel to The Bahamas, where Charles is Head of State. The King will then visit Guyana for a state visit at the invitation of President Irfaan Ali and at the request of the UK government.
