RAWALPINDI: Security forces have killed 12 militants during an intelligence-based operation in Kalat district of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operation was conducted on September 2 after security agencies received intelligence regarding the presence of militants affiliated with what it described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan group.
Acting on the intelligence, security forces located and kept the suspected hideout under surveillance before launching a targeted operation. The hideout was subsequently cleared, resulting in the deaths of all 12 militants, the ISPR said.
A quantity of weapons and ammunition, along with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was also destroyed during the operation, according to the statement.
Security forces have launched a sanitisation operation in the surrounding area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants.
The ISPR reiterated that counterterrorism operations under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework would continue with full intensity until the threat posed by foreign-sponsored terrorism was eliminated.
Two militants killed in Washuk
In a separate operation earlier, two militants were killed in Washuk district of Balochistan, security sources said.
The intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Palantak area as part of ongoing efforts against militants associated with Fitna al-Hindustan.
According to security sources, both militants were involved in attacks targeting the Mashkhel Police Station and Customs House.
Their vehicle was also destroyed during the operation, while a substantial quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the site.
Sources said the recovered arms and ammunition were allegedly intended for targeted attacks against civilians and to support further militant activities in Balochistan.
