LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday held celebrations across the country to mark the 38th birthday of party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, with party leaders and workers extending their greetings to him.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was born in Karachi on September 21, 1988. He is the son of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari and the grandson of former prime minister and PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He received his education at Oxford University and entered active politics following the assassination of his mother in December 2007. He was subsequently appointed chairman of the PPP.
Bilawal made his parliamentary debut in the 2018 general elections after being elected to the National Assembly from Larkana. He also contested the election from Karachi’s Lyari constituency.
In Lahore, a special ceremony was organised by PPP Lahore Vice President Amir Butt to celebrate the party chairman’s birthday. A large number of party workers and leaders attended the event, including PPP Lahore General Secretary Dr Ayesha Shaukat, Organising Committee Convener Majeed Ghauri and senior leader Shahida Jabeen.
Meanwhile, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid conveyed her birthday wishes to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
In her message, Senator Rubina Khalid praised Bilawal’s involvement in national politics from an early age and said he was continuing the democratic and public-service legacy associated with his late mother, Benazir Bhutto.
